Summer quarter at CGMA

Hi All, Just wanted to let you know that registration for the summer term at CGMA started today. This is a great program that I really enjoy getting to teach for. Additionally, for being an on-line school it comes closest by far to replicating the on-site experience. I am currently teaching 2 classes there. If anyone has any questions, feel free to let me know.

Dear Mr. Hampton, I am a fan now and I just want to know if it is free to register to your class via the web, or do I have to pay ?

I am a French man.

Sincerely,

Manuel

Hi. Ya, unfortunately, the classes aren't free. It is run through CGMA and they are a bit on the expensive side. They are roughly $600 each, you can see their site for more details if you're interested still.
Sorry :)

Well.....yes it's sad !

But I want you to know that I am a huge fan of your style and the way you teach (from what I have seen on youtube and your blogspot) and the approach you take to make drawings are interesting, and easy to learn.

As far as I am concerned, I want to master gesture drawing before I go further. You made me want to do that (with couple of artists on devianart too) ! Thank you !

I'll have one request though ! Can send you my works, to have some of your comments ? I would be very glad to have an artist, a professional like you, to correct me.

I left drawing when I was a kid, because I did not have the motivation around me, but now that know you, and your blog I take my chances !

And it's quite funny, because when I ecently came across your blogspot, I was wondering if you were still updating it. And now I have the answer. God Bless !

If it bothers you to comment my drawing because you only deal with students who register with the CGMA classes, it is okay.
But I will do with the pictures and sketches you have posted.

Still one question, though before I leave.

I have always been wondering what was the technique when artists draw two lines in a specific part of the body ? I saw this on this blog:
http://analyticalfiguresp08.blogspot.fr/2008_03_01_archive.html

and it's "Week 2- Weight and Gesture Demo" and it's the last picture when you explain that the leg has a B shape in front view, and S shape in profile. In the two drawings next to those explanation, you drew two lines in V shape: for the lady it starts from her foot and opens up in V shape, and for the man, it starts from his forearm and opens down in V shape. I do no know if I made my self clear (pardon my French) but I'd like to have more details about this. Does it have to do with the line of beauty ?

Kind regards,

Manuel

Not a problem, Manuel.

I am glad you're returning to drawing!

I'm not sure how to answer your question on the Kevin's drawings. Those aren't mine, but from Kevin Chen, a very talented character artist and life drawing teacher. It would be best to direct your questions to him.

Warm Regards!

P.S: Do I have to give you gmail or....?

Hi Mr. Hampton, your stuff is fantastic. On an off-note, will you ever release a digital (PDF) version of your figure drawing book? It would be handy to have as a mobile reference!

Thank you! I don't have any plans to release a pdf version, but I'll look into it. I think it would be a nice thing to have as well.
